Exporting Puzzle Text
- Select Export from the File menu.
- Choosing "Text" will export the clue/answer set to a text document.
- Choose a Format.
- Preview - It includes titles and across and down labels. Clues are numbered according to the puzzle.
- Tab Delimited, Answers Only, Clues Only - Use these options for data exchange. Most spreadsheets can import from one of these formats.
- Grid - Exporting a word search puzzle as a grid will create a file with all the characters used in the word search laid out in their rows and columns. A crossword puzzle as a grid will is an ASCII art representation of the puzzle.
- Choose a Text Encoding. If you are an English speaker, any of these settings will probably work.
- Use the Windows encoding to save for older Windows programs.
- Use the Mac encoding to save for older Mac programs.
- Some very new programs (Mac and Windows) are using Unicode, and you may have to use that.
- Please check your program documentation to find the encoding it uses. Feel free to experiment if you aren't sure. Possible signs that you used the wrong encoding is that foreign language characters show up as gibberish.
