Importing a Puzzle

Import clues and answers for a crossword puzzle from a text document into an existing puzzle.

• Select Import from the File menu.
• Select the file you want to import.
• Choose the file format of your text document in the Import dialog box. The window will give you a preview of your data.


• Then choose the Text Encoding. If you are an English speaker, ANY of these settings will probably work.
• Use the Windows encoding if the document was saved with an old Windows program.
• Use the Mac encoding if the document was saved with an old Mac program.
• Some very new programs (Mac and Windows) are using Unicode, and you may have to use that.
• Please check your program documentation to find the encoding it uses. Feel free to experiment if you aren't sure. Possible signs that you used the wrong encoding is that foreign language characters show up as gibberish.

• Click the Import button
• Review the clues and answers in the Puzzle Editor window.
• Click on the Make Puzzle button

• Select Import from Clipboard from the File menu.
• The preview window will show you your selection and you can select the file format.
