Changing the Language Settings

Customize your puzzle to make a crossword or word search in different languages.

Select Preferences in the Crossword Forge menu.
Change your language setting by choosing a different language in the Language field.

Each language has its own Puzzle Labels and Random Characters in Word Search.

For example, a "German" language selection will have "Waagerecht" for the "Across" label and "Senkrecht" for the "Down" label.
And in the Random Characters in Word Search you find the German alphabet including the umlaut vowels.

How do I add and delete new languages to Crossword Forge.

Click on New in the Preferences dialog.
Give your language a name.
Change your Puzzle Labels and add the letters you wish in the Random Characters in Word Search

What does Random Characters in Word Search do?

When a word search is created using your clues answers, the rest of the word search is filled in with the characters found in Random Characters in Word Search

What is the Word Search Label in Puzzle Labels?

Put your instructions that will appear on the word search puzzle in this edit field. (e.g. Find the words in the word search. They are hidden horizontally, diagonally and spelled in reverse order.)

What is Extract Spaces in Grid Letters?

If a clue answer is a phrase, Extract Spaces will extract the spaces so the phrase will appear as one word (e.g. "I seek the grail" into "Iseekthegrail").

What is Capitalization?

Capitalization controls how the clue answers are displayed in the puzzle.
"Upper Case" will display all the clue answers in upper case letters (e.g. "Jupiter" into "JUPITER")
"Lower Case" will display all the clue answers in lower case letters (e.g. "Jupiter" into "jupiter")
"Preserve Case" will display all the clue answers in the original case (e.g. "Jupiter" into "Jupiter")

How can I quickly change to different Languages?

Select the language from the list or select "Customize" to return to the Preferences dialog.
