Performance
It's clear the first time you make a crossword puzzle in Crossword Forge 7 that it's dramatically faster. We wanted to quantify exactly how much faster. So we built two puzzles for testing, a very dense 15x15 newspaper style puzzle with 61 words, and a looser 35x35 freeform puzzle with 50 words. We also wanted to test on a variety of computers. Our test computers ran the gamut from a low-end single processor Windows netbook to a high-end 8 processor Mac tower. Note: The speed-up times we show in the graphs above are averaged over ten or more trials. Actual speed-up times will vary (higher & lower) depending on the word list and selected software settings. In the course of testing we saw speeds as high as 92x and as low as 2x, but we tried to make the graphs reflect the typical speed-up. Puzzles whose creation time in Crossword Forge 6 was under two seconds may not see any speed-up in Crossword Forge 7. Crossword Forge 7 speed-up is limited to crossword puzzles only and doesn't affect the speed of word search puzzle creation.
