Saving in Demo Mode -- How to Undo?

Postby PJKreft » January 21st, 2010, 12:12 pm

I had version 6 loaded up and thought all was well. I tried to use it again today (first time since December, I believe). All went well until I tried to print, of course, and it didn't know I was a registered user. Great. I put in my user code and was able to complete the job. I closed the program. That was my mistake. When I proofed the puzzle again I found two very minor errors. No problem, until I tried to reload the document

"The Puzzle was saved with a demo version of 6.0 of Crossword Forget. Cons...." Well, you should know the screen. So I put in my code -- again -- and was able to print it out.

I tried again and downloaded the latest version of the program. I put in my code -- again -- and now it won't let me open the file at all. The message above continues to come up.

Suggestions?

Crossword Forge has a built in lock-out that prevents puzzlers from getting a demo mode version, taking advantage of its advanced features, saving the puzzle and then going back to a previous version and printing the puzzle out. Since you have a purchased copy of a newer version, the software provides a built in remedy. To be in this situation you have evidently saved a puzzle with the demo (locked) version. You have to go back, download exactly the same version again (to be found on the error message you are getting), use your unlock key to open the software (it should already be unlocked, because the unlock code is stored by your computer), open the puzzle, and save the puzzle again. Now it should open in any version.
